Welcome to our Spanish Immersion Summer Camp
LanguageArts and Claudia Topete-Sanchez would like to welcome you to our Spanish
Immersion Summer Camp.
Claudia has been teaching Spanish in the after school program at Ohlone Elementary
School, a Montessori inspired Charter School in Palo Alto, for the past 15 years.
Claudia loves to inpire the hearts and minds of children through her holistic approach to
teaching, evoking in them a love for learning and igniting in them the spark of curiousity
which makes it fun and exciting to learn a new language.
Her B.A. in Music and Pedagogical Studies from the National University of Mexico is a
perfect support for her teaching style, which envolves a lot of rhythmic enforcement to
create a link between a musical rhythm and the rhythm of the language in order to absorb
and retain different language patterns and parts of speech more easily.
Claudia believes that it is essential to help children to build up their confidence and self-
esteem in order to approach a new language and she, in her own words, "never leaves a
child behind."
She has implemented the Spanish language program for the Mexican Cultural Institute at
the Embassy of Mexico in Washington D.C., in addition to teaching in the after school
program at various elementary schools in the Palo Alto and Menlo Park School districts.
Her teaching experiences include tutoring of all age groups and at all difficulty levels,
including AP test preparations.
