French Summer Program
LanguageArts and Maria Costello would like to welcome you to our French Summer Program.
Maria has enjoyed being a foreign language teacher for over a
decade. In my years of experience, She has seen a universal desire
among her students to personalize the language they are learning,
as well as understand the language from its native cultural and
social perspective. Maria emphasizes that everyone can find a way
to express themselves in a truthful and authentic way in a foreign
language and helps them find ways to find their own identity within
the language. Her approach to language learning is first to help
her students know what their intentions are - what they want to
communicate and why - before they begin practicing a new verb
tense, vocabulary or functional language phrases and have specific,
clear intentions results in a more confident and coherent way to
communicate. Maria encourages creative role-play, especially with
her younger students, so that they can use their imaginations to think
outside the square, loosen up and have fun! Her enthusiasm and
love for language is contagious – Maria's students leave their lessons
energized and motivated!
I. Jump Start into French
An introductory French course for students who will be entering French at school in the
fall and would like to feel more confident and relaxed about the new language. The class
will introduce basic sentence structures, basic vocabulary and conversational excersises
all in an age appropriate, fun context.
Times and days for the class will be decided in mutual agreement between teacher and students.
Rates:
Private: $55 per hour
Semi-private: $35 per hour per student
Group (3-5 students): $25 per hour per student
I. Middle and High School Level French Review and Preview
A class that can be seen as a review and preview to Middle and High School French or
a class for teenagers to simply practise French at that level. Since classes are small we
encourage the input of students and parents, so we can tailor the class to the specific
needs of the students. Depending on the students needs we either work with our materials
or materials provided by the students.
Times and days for the class will be decided in mutual agreement between teacher and students.
Rates:
Private: $55 per hour
Semi-private: $35 per hour per student
Group (3-5 students): $25 per hour per student
